2.2.21 Omni Fin/Fun (Building? just kidding)Working Group 2pm

Discussion of Loans and Grants work. How to do it together w/screen sharing
Rotate Facilitating and Note taking and Decision taking
MaryAnn-2nd Round of State Grants starts today Feb. 2nd.
Not eligible for Save Our Stages. Have to have at least 70% musical events
Jane-SBA Disaster Loan still in the works. Jane will email them at disastercustomerservice@sba.gov
Rachel-Outreach to people who have money, Churches, etc. They want us to find people willing to invest in Omni in terms of refinancing the Loan. If we can get some people to loan $20,000 who also work with banks to invest. Time involved to find investors is too great right now, but might be something we could do in the future. We need to be in a bit better shape.
Yar-People looking for some place to invest sustainably and ethically. How much time? As an alternative to the Self-Help application?
MaryAnn-This could go on at the same time. Need to continue with the Self-Help application. We have a lot of principle in the building. If we got a few more investors we could do it.
Rachel-got a good feel from them. We could reach out to people with money to invest responsibly, ethically. Samble out of Washington State would help organize people with money.
MaryAnn-2016 missing taxes, perhaps not complete.
Robb-will ask Sarah to check on this, found in the google drive.
Natasha and Jane will organize the files this Saturday at 9:30. Stuff on the desk will need to be filed.
(Robb shared Code for office)
Skylights are leaking. Can get on the roof. Trapdoor on the mezzanine with ladder next to it. We have wet patch tar. Clear silicone.
Go Fund Me Natasha has been thanking everyone who gave money. $9,000 so far. Will update soon and send another blast. Change the amount of the goal.
Yar-Insurance Waiting on the outlets at this point. Talk to our broker and see if the fridge might be an issue. Electrician will come out sometime this week and give an estimate. Around $1,000.
$2,000 Home Depot card. No response from Jenny. Card in Jenny's name. Not in FastPack.
Yar will try that.
Monthly Income Robb will send to the Delegates mtg.
Yar sent an email to Vicky and she followed up on thread. NOMA asked what is needed for their application. MaryAnn sent an email to Vicky and reassured her that CSC was supportive. Crucial element that needed to be clarified was the Non-Profit status. Explained to her what that meant and apologized to her if there were hard feelings. Explained what has to be in the application.
Not needing ByLaws. Fiscally Sponsored by a 501c3. We can give fiscal sponsorship if they can't get it from OCUEJ. If they have that we can go ahead with next steps, rent, etc. Lack of Non-Profit status is the problem. They need to go over the outline and their application and redo it.
Yar wrote an email and a 1.26.21 reply said that they were sorting that out. Helping to resolve the miscommunication. Yar will try that. Will become apparent when we begin. Seems like they were trying to sort out with OCUEJ about rent.
MaryAnn will rewrite the Outline and add information that is needed. Structure doesn't mean much. Tomorrow around noon or 1pm Yar and MaryAnn will go over the Outline (which is the summary, table of contents to the Roadmap).
Rob-Jessy's legal invoice is $529 - 4.6 hours Sept 3rd to January 27th. Drafting the event agreement. He attached a letter with it. Letter says he will be cutting back his hours from 5 to 3 days/week.
Our next meeting will be the Loan and Grant application work Tuesday February 9th at 2pm.

These groups function as a way to collectivize the labor required to operate the space.
In order to make progress on many different aspects of this project, please use the following protocols. The intention is to support horizontal, consent-based, transparent, good-faith collaboration.

==Start a Working Group==
* The Omni encourages the establishment of new working groups as necessary to collectivize the labor of the project.
* A list of current working groups is maintained on the wiki here: http://wiki.omni-oakland.org/w/Working_Groups.
* If you see a need for a new working group, propose its purpose and scope at a delegate’s meeting.
* Once approved by the delegates, work with fellow group members to compose a vision statement and scope for the working group. Create a working group page on the wiki and post your vision there.

==Bottomlining Established Working Groups==
* Work with fellow group members to determine convenient meeting dates and times.
* Help to administer working group email list.
* Announce your meeting times via email to the omni-logistics list and by adding them to the Omni calendar (https://omnicommons.org/wiki/Calendar).
* Publish meeting notes on the Omni calendar, and send a direct link to the notes to the omni-discuss list after every meeting.
* Help to facilitate a positive and fun working group culture by:
** Designating a facilitator and scribe to take notes at the beginning of the meeting
** Concluding each meeting with "action items"
* Be present for meetings as much as possible. If not able to attend a meeting, arrange in advance who will distribute notes.
* Forward any major announcements or questions for discussion from your working group to the omni-discuss list and/or to the delegates’ meeting as necessary.
* Ensure proposals that need the approval of the delegates are added to the riseup pad (https://pad.riseup.net/p/omninom). Include the date the proposal was added to the pad.
* The most basic rules for bottomlining a working group are autonomy and good judgement (i.e. common sense)!

==Join a Working Group==
* Check the schedule above and attend the next meeting of the working group.
* Directly contact the individual(s) bottom-lining the group.
* Show up to a meeting, or use the communication channel specified for that group to stay in touch.

==Make Progress in a Working Group==
* Set goals that aspire to deliver on the working group's "mission" or purpose.
* If necessary, outline tasks in order to reach each goal.
* Make progress on and seek to accomplish any tasks that contribute to the working group's goals.
* When a working group's goals require '''feedback''', '''formal approval''', or simply '''consent''' from the Omni delegates, create a proposal:
** Present this proposal to the Omni delegates meeting to ensure each member-group can build consent in their respective community as necessary.
* When a working group has several divergent options or ideas and cannot come to resolution on them alone, then create proposals that represent these options and present these in some way to the whole collective:
** Present proposals at an Omni delegates meeting for feedback
** Ask for feedback on the omnilogistics@lists.riseup.net email list
** Ask for feedback from other working groups, member-groups, or individuals that are not involved with your working group.
** Rinse, repeat until you have garnered improvements to your proposal from the invaluable experiences and contributions of everyone involved with the Omni Commons, ultimately building consensus among the entire community.

==Volunteer!==
* Fill a front door shift: https://ethercalc.com/omni-front-desk
* Help with a project! (See [[Building Construction and Maintenance Working Group]] or checkout the [[Collectives]])
* Answer our wishes! Check out the things we're in need of: [[WishList]]
* Clean the commons! We all use it, we all need it clean :D
* Help book occupations of time in the commons: [[Commons Working Group]]
* Fold flyers and prepare literature! Ask any member for directions to the printer, cutting board and documents we always need more copies of (like our welcoming comic, or the safe space policy)

1. We have approved Sarah Lockhart as Omni Commons bookkeeper

2. We need to create a template for our agendas and an accessible place for our agendas and notes.

3. We need 2 or 3 people to work on a process for how we apply for grants and loans from foundations and non-profits. We all need to know how to present ourselves. We could spend ½ meeting on other stuff and ½ on filling out loan application with screen sharing.

4. Silver has submitted the application for a SBA grant.

5. Collected donations received $57,624 spent $6,000 =$51000 Last year $87,000 exp 135,000 gross 223,000 compared with 125,000 Last year $11,000. May 1st money is due. $5,570.

6. Rent payments from Collectives need to be recorded. Liberated Lenz owes $900 for 3 months rent. We need to get a better understanding of what they owe. FIE owes 2 months and making an effort. Quickbooks errors sometimes. Money comes in-Quickbooks says this is for that and you have to OK it.

7. ReelVeganCheese wants to set up a PayPal account with Mark Ual (sp) as signer. Open with Self Help bank account.

8. From Facebook we made $1300 in December. It was doubled so we have $2600.

9. NOMA's Application for membership has to come through Finance. They are working on their ByLaws. People doing the day to day work want to be an independent group. Skeptical of joining Omni because of 'cultural differences'. Vicky said there are 'oppositional attitudes'. Restorative justice is needed. Things need to be cleared up. Proposal says “what is your organization status?” Project is already a partnership. As written, their Application for Membership is far from what it needs to be. There is a misunderstanding about what fiscal sponsorship means. Confusing fiscal support with Sponsorship. OCUEJ. Vicky’s status is as a volunteer with North Oakland Restorative Justice Council. 501c3 requirements. All collectives have to be non-profits or be fiscally sponsored. Finite group of people with 'naive consensus'. Have to have some kind of formal status for Omni's property tax status and IRS.

10. Yar sending an email to NOMA (North Oakland Mutual Aid) folks about their status. MaryAnn wants to go over the process at a meeting with them. When we begin renting space again, where will they be? Maybe they could reserve Wed. and Saturday. Acta Non Verba. Ballroom and Entrance Hall. The reality of them having to move to the basement when we are able to begin renting space has to be in the agreement with NOMA. NOMA is doing packaging on every other Saturday afternoon.

11. We have $13,000 in kitchen fund, need $100,000 to go. Lift for basement would be great.

12. Electrical outlets $300-500 an outlet. $600 including permits? Do we need to take this to Delegates for approval of the possible $1200 for electrical? Townfridge people might be willing to support this.

13. We need an Estimate on fixing the boards on the South side. MaryAnn's son might be willing.

14. Yar will get 3 bids and quotes for a new roof. We will go with the most reasonable. We are working on having a new loan by May including money for a new roof. We need to get bids and schedule for June or July.

15. Ballroom Upgrade, upgrade skylights, storm windows, install sprinkler system. John said he would draft a Business Plan. We could buy a beer and wine license from a going-out-of-business place, Maybe Starline. Natasha might know and Adam. We need approval from the board. Need specific leads wrapped up in a business proposal. Sprinkler system will up our loan and we could triple people capacity. Make us a competitive venue.

16. Robb will search the file cabinet for the State 2016 taxes and Articles of Incorporation, and email Jesse about how to get an extension. Yar will email Jenny about the 2016 State tax forms. Having this hanging over us threatens to close down our 501c3. Maria and one of our officers will have to submit the 2016 and only half of it has been filled out. Laura said they did the returns by hand and submitted by snail mail. Copies should be in the office files. Articles of Incorporation should be in there too. Sarah could do it if she could find the data for that time. Have to do it ASAP. It might take Sarah a bit of time to do taxes. She might need to help us to redo it. Midyear we transferred from SudoRoom to Omni Commons in Nov. or Dec. of that year. Confusing. Did it by hand.

17. We owe NORJC's Security deposit and last months rent $641 plus $1500. We might owe Fat Beets also for August. Have to figure.

Omni Fin/Fun working group 1.26.21

Draft Decisions and Notes. (Please correct, add to, as needed)

Vicki said there are 'oppositional attitudes'. Vicki's status is as a volunteer with North Oakland Restorative Justice Council.

In order to make progress on many different aspects of this project, please use the following protocols. The intention is to support horizontal, consent-based, transparent, good-faith collaboration.

==Start a Working Group==

==Bottomlining Established Working Groups==

==Join a Working Group==
* Check the schedule above and attend the next meeting of the working group.
* Directly contact the individual(s) bottom-lining the group.
* Show up to a meeting, or use the communication channel specified for that group to stay in touch.

==Make Progress in a Working Group==

==Volunteer!==
* Fill a front door shift: https://ethercalc.com/omni-front-desk
