ANY MEMBER OF OUR COMMUNITY SHOULD FEEL EMPOWERED TO EXERCISE THEIR AGENCY AND PERFORM ANY NECESSARY TASKS!

Collective obligations to cleaning shared spaces

  • Proposal:
    • Identify a time of day, day of the week, day of the month for "Work Parties" which anyone can come and participate in.

Proposed Tuesday nights to coincide with putting trash out for early Wed. a.m. trash pick-up

    • "Team Leader" for each group of weekly tasks.
    • Maximum term for Team Leaders (4 weeks?)
    • At weekly meeting collective gives thanks for those who are doing this work


  • All collectives responsible for cleaning their own spaces, emptying their own trash, etc.
  • Cleaning supplies currently stored in room off of stage.
    • Create a map of all cleaning supplies (where they go) and attach to all supplies.
    • Create a map of all trash cans in common areas and attach to large trash cans.
  • Daily Tasks
    • Post a list and have people sign / check off when those things are done.
  • Concerns
    • Is this a governance issue? How do we determine in which ways people are expected to contribute / participate
    • How do we pay for work party supplies?
    • Need to put together a guide for how to clean certain things (what to use to clean the wood floors, etc)

Daily Tasks

  • General tidying
  • Sweeping outside, picking up cigarette butts
  • Checking on bathrooms and restocking supplies if necessary
  • Checking kitchen and storing / disposing of food left out
  • Putting any orphaned items into Lost and Found

Weekly Tasks

  • Garbage
    • Goes out Tues night / Weds morning
    • Check and empty all trash cans in common areas
  • Cleaning the Bathrooms
    • 4 Bathrooms
    • Replace toilet paper, soap, paper towels
    • Empty Trash
    • Clean Toilets
    • Clean Sinks
    • Sweep and Mop
    • Clean mirrors
  • Sweeping / Mopping
    • Ballroom and Mezzanine
    • Basement
    • Kitchen
  • Kitchen
    • Clean out refridgerators
    • Clean stovetops
    • Wipe up any messes / Wipe down counter tops
    • Put away any food left out
    • Weekly email sent out letting people know to label any food they don't want thrown out
