Omni Fundraising - 6 June 2016

Attendees

Marcus, Laura, Jenny, Mary Ann, Matt, David

Updates

  • Jenny: 1023 app is almost complete and ready to send!!! Marc will sign the RVC fiscal sponsorship agreement after getting a few questions answered from Jose or Jesse. That's the last piece! Everything has been uploaded here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-AL95NlI75qVzd1dVFTLUp3TUk&usp=sharing
  • Jenny: Talked with another member of the community this weekend about another friendly no-interest loan if we need it for July (probably yes). We could really use a $10-20K grant to see us through the next few months, but if we buy the building I'm guessing some of these loans could turn into donations.
  • Laura and Mary Ann are meeting with Stephaney from NC CLF on Tuesday at 2 at Omni. We will talk about the services they offer and try to guage their interest in actually giving us a loan as opposed to just helping us get a loan from someone else. Others welcome.
  • David has been talking to the chief loan officer at the NCCLF in a long email cycle. He wanted "pie in the sky" proformas with high budgeting to show that we are serious about maintianing the building for the future.
  • From Mary Ann's conversation with Dan @ NCCLF, we're not likely to get grants to improve the building until we own it. He said the kind of loan they might be interested in: earthquake retrofit, accessibility
  • From DK's discussion with them, they will expect us to budget in paid staff positions
  • From Laura's experience at the workshop, most groups present were performance arts groups either about to lose their space or afraid of losing it - one angle we can prove
  • Mary Ann knows the ED of La Pena, can arrange a meeting between him, fundraising and commons wg folks
  • Our PGE bill continues to be very high even after disconnecting the gas and some refridgerators.
    • THe Phat Beets fridge may be malfunctioning and running constantly. David will put a Kill-a-watt on it and we will talk to them about getting it fixed or getting a new one, and paying some share of utilities.
    • We may be able to get some $ from PGE for energy upgrades (all the LEDs we have installed), have a kid from thei energy efficiency program come by and see what they can do for us, and we should make sure we have the best rate we can get.
