Discussion

Sin Fronteras lease

  • Jesse said we have to charge them market rate. Laura logged into Loopnet and looked up restaurants for lease. Cheapest was in lower bottoms, kinda run down, ~$1.80/sqft. One on Telegraph for ~$2/sqft. Laura calculated sqft of bar area + 1/3 entrance hall = $1,270 base rent.
    • Emailed them about it. They weren't completely opposed.
      • Mary Ann: Have they told you they're being supported by someone - getting a grant to do this? Not sure if it's true. . Jose mentioned they may have startup support $$s
        • Jenny: Maybe they could have an LLC and a nonprofit conducting trainings, workshops, etc?
          • Brian: Wicked Grounds claims to be a 501c3
  • Laura will draft actual lease with them and submit to delegates.

Property Taxes

  • Brian: Good news: penalties for nonpayment are financial only.
  • * Non-payment doesnt affect our application status
  • Tax payment process is separate from tax exemption process
  • No straight answer re: what the cap is for fines & fees (doc sez $250 but kinda ambiguously)
  • Hadn't yet even been entered in their database
  • Someone will call Brian back supposedly shortly - talk to supervisor if not in database already

Kitchen Campaign

  • Laura suggests a $5K matching campaign launch this week or next
  • Jenny exported CSVs of previous donors - hella shirts (~150 = ~$2000)
  • Jenny & Marc to sesh this Friday on Hackpacks & Stickers
  • Place @ 51st & Shafter for shirt printing
  • Laura making text for Thank You cards, + possibly foto?
