Introductions

Introduce yourself: Name; Preferred Pronoun; Affiliation; any brief announcements; say whether you're a delegate; let us know about any access needs you have†

  • WHY DO WE ASK PRONOUNS? To make space for people who are trans, nonbinary, gender noncomforming or otherwise vulnerable to being misgendered. It's not an invitation to make jokes or trivialize the idea of pronouns. If you are fine with the gender and pronouns society generally assigns to you, please just say what they are without fanfare or embellishment. Conversely, please don't pressure anybody to give their pronouns, as that can harm trans people who are closeted or questioning. The point is to prompt and normalize asking, but not to mandate or enforce. Thank you! <3 Yar

  • Submitted via Robb on 8/26
  • Subject: See you there? Sponsorships for Imagine Freedom: Art Works for Abolition

Dear Robb, I am a member of Critical Resistance and helping to support our upcoming Imagine Freedom: Art Works for Abolition art auction, running from September 29th to October 13th and will include some online events

Please join us for this event coming up! It's going to be great-- there’s a beautiful range of artists and cultural workers participating, ranging from our movement muralists and printmakers to elder and internationally renowned artists

We are doing outreach now-- would Omni and any other groups and networks that you are part of be willing to help boost this event and be a "Movement Sponsor"? Movement Sponsor involves:

  • boosting the event and spreading the word: post on social media 3x, share by email, newsletter or website 1-3x, and/or invite your membership and base!
  • bonus step: contribute to our programming and messaging on “Imagine Freedom: Art Works for Abolition”. Share a photo, a story or a few sentences on how “Art [can/does] Works for Abolition.” How has your organization or group used art to amplify or advance your campaigns or efforts? How have you used art to “Imagine Freedom”? We will include photos, quotations, and make beautiful materials to amplify how our movement has utilized art to work for abolition!

In return, we will list you as a Movement Sponsor supporter and share all event info (viewing links, etc) directly with you. RSVP by replying to this message saying YES and with your image or quotation about Art for Abolition. If the file is large, please add it directly here and include your org name in the File name.

We also are inviting sponsorship donations from $100+. If you are able to consider supporting in this way, all details in this Sponsorship packet. Donations are welcome! But most importantly, please let us know if you can be a Movement Sponsor! We'd love to have you on board. Social media images attached.

Visit the webpage here: http://imaginefreedom.art/

Thanks all! Any spreading the word is appreciated!

Best, Alexander

Discussion / Consenso

  • formal decision next meeting, but universal enthusiasm
  • jenny: would like to offer more than $100..
    • rachel: we are in a financial crisis, $100 is a good amount to contribute
  • roya: can boost in next CSA newsletter
    • jenny: omni is due for another newsletter as well
  • questions for collectives: sponsor w/ $100 contrib, or just boosting on social
  • send further questions to robb to relay

Proposal: Apply for EIDL Loan =

  • via fundraising on ?
  • long-term low-interest loan for loss of revenue during this period, which may or may not be forgiven
  • finance/fr wg decided to apply, but since it's a serious commitment thought it best to ask delegates
  • 30-year loan at 2.75% interest. amount determined by whatever's considered the amount of your loss (except they apparently don't ask for Feb - current 2020 financials..?)

Discussion

  • jenny: please copy and paste the application questions into a doc so i can see the terms and respond to any finance or legal/ownership questions
  • Delegates favor this application going forward, thanks Fundraising Committee!

Other Business (Commons Group)

  • Benny (LL) raised the question whether LL can use Omni speakers for next LL drive-up movie events. There was some damage to the speakers at the last event, and LL indicates it is in the process of repairing that damage. Robb asked for an assurance that in future LL undertake such repairs or replacement of Omni equipment they borrow and damage. Benny gave that assurance.
