Discussion

• Yoga / movement / martial arts classes need insurance per lease. Do we put all of these classes on hold until then?
  • Does not matter how insurance is procured, but insurance must be procured w/ the following conditions as per the lease:
  • GL amt: $1M/incident $2M/total
  • OOC & Owner named as Additional Named Insured
  • Waiver of Subrogation
  • What should we do? Cancel classes until that's figured out? Pick a date?
  • Send insurance quote by next Commons meeting(?) -
  • Jenny will ask them to come to the next Commons meeting to check in, will take over being insurance nag from David
  • Rachel will bring this up to Omni Yoga at next meeting/emailed already about it
• Person who hosted "Being Carried" (yoga?) said no one had talked to them about the cost of the space. They gave a donation but we should make this more explicit.
  • Should increase the top end of the sliding scale significantly - Disco Room - $50 - Ballroom - $2500/$3000 - should add a note to the occupy form

  • He's coming back Monday to retrieve the drums
  • Points for an email from Commons WG, Laura will write: move the trike, musical equipment
  • There's still drum equip down there that appears to be Kwic:
    • "All the drums and equipment in the basement besides the blue kick drum, a cymbal stand, floor and middle tom tom drum, belong to me."
      • This does not include the video / film equipment.
• Electroluxx event / Sunday Mass
  • Started party at the chapel in SF a while ago - queer crowd; art, music, DJ showcase; pride party, moved to 'public works' (SF) on sunday - did a sold out event on saturday
  • Nick, Brett, Elliot, Alex proposing event
  • Could start in a few weeks - up to us
  • Alcohol - would like to sell
  • Want to go to 2AM
  • Jenny - soundproofing & permits 1st; 2mo out?
  • Event would require full insurance
  • Ballroom bar needs a floor sink, some sinks fixed, refrigeration
• Anti-Repression Committee FR 3/21 - Paolo:
  • Night of DJs (4)

  • (no other rooms, just ballroom)
  • 9pm-2am, maybe open earlier to look at art show
  • 2 shifts of security people, we will specify some of their duties/practices

Suggest turning up to max and checking how loud it is outside around the building during the day

    • FNB's name going on the permits (cleared with FNB)
    • Permits: ABC-221, possibly Special Activity Permit David will pull, need to figure out how to pay in advance of party
    • Event Insurance: 2-day Event insurance with alcohol, 18+

• Email specific considerations:
  • One person stationed outside the building to monitor overflow/smokers
  • Set up a Google Voice chain of responsibility ^_^
• Discussion on ballroom cleanliness (see action item #3)
  • Long-term sustainability - paying people who are bottomlining events
  • Whole slew of bureaucracy we would have to deal with
  • Chain of labor / value - do we pay the commons working group? the toilet paper fairies?
  • We shouldn't necessarily keep the deposit, but at the least give a warning the first time - take the deposit after the second time it happens
  • $500-1000 deposit for large ragers, $100 for most ballroom events, $100 for Disco Room rental
  • Professionalism: Fake it til you make it...
  • We should put up clear sign w/ photos of how the room is supposed to look

Action Items

• Add point to ballroom prep and cleaning guide that if space is not put back in good condition it will come off the deposit
• Create signage with photos of how each room looks ideally (start with ballroom and Disco Room)
