Agenda:
- Present: Sarah, DK, Niki, Jen
- Conflict between Kwe & Darin
- Recap of conflict between Kwe & Darin
- Mediation was arranged for today but because Darin was found in the building after being asked not to return until mediation, Kwe left and is not present.
- Not our place to figure out who started conflict / who is "right"
- Need to find a good way to address Kwe's use of space
- SP will initiate
- Clarifications to the conflict resolution policy:
** At what point are conflicts brought to the larger community for resolution? *** How can we encourage people to resolve conflicts on their own before appealing to mediators and groups for help? **** ** Are there guidelines or restraints about timeline that we want to suggest for handling conflict? *** Conflict Steward and Mediator to be identified within one week, they determine a reasonable time within which the resolution process can begin ** Who is responsible for identifying conflict stewards and mediators? ** Who is responsible for seeking resolution? *** People asked to leave the space to be provided with a hard copy of the conflict resolution policy and told that they can pursue resolution, should they so desire. ** What about individuals who are not affiliated with any member collective? ** What is the role of the CDC with respect to conflict resolution? *** Helping people to identify mediators and conflict stewards *** Advocating on behalf of unaffiliated groups or members and people who want to remain anonymous *** CDC could propose bans to the delegates, who would vote on it before the ban being enacted
- Clarifying Safer Space Policy to include
- something along the lines of "regardless of cultural background, violence is not tolerated in the space" (Need to discuss - what constitutes an act of violence?)
