Kitchen Meeting - 5 August 2019
Attendees
- Mylan, Joe, Arthur, Marcus, Laura, Yar, Phil
Updates
- Jim hasn't sent any GC contacts or gotten back to us re structural engineer
- Yar hasn't been able to get in touch w David - just returned form long trip
- Stove demo: Phil has reached the limit of what can be done with human hands, particularly remaining screws/bolts. Calling for angle grinder or something. Arthur can get an angle grinder from tool library. Wants to have a 3 person work party to finish the demo.
- Phil, Arthur, and Yar will meet this Thursday, noon, to finish stove demo.
- Arthur will pick up some tools from tool library. Yar will briing angle grinder blades. If arthur needs to buy more we can pay.
- Arthur's estimate on quarry tile install on floor is 15,000 including labor
- Kitchen porter - person who does periodic deep cleaning of kitchen.
PB Feedback on Plans
- We weren't sure if so much storage was needed. People should be required to bring in their own supplies. If users can bring their own supplies we wont need so much storage and can have more work tables. We need tobe clear about who is responsible for what supplies.
- Suggest more stalls in bathroom
- Will there be a deep freezer? Not really needed for PB but IF someone were using the kitchen to start their catering business they might want to store meat and other stuff for more than a week.
- Ice Maker? There are various sizes.
- Metal work tables with an electical outlet that is attached to an extension cord in order to have access to electricity at all workstations. LOcations of outlets don't seem easily accessible to the worktables. Pillars in the middle of the room w outlets seems like a better option. Drop down power like in CCL is also an option.
- Didn't see location/designated space for cleaning supplies.
- Arthur prefers floor recessed mop sink. Jackhammering will be needed.
Action Items
- Ping Jim re next draft of plans, structural engineer, suggestions for contractors
- Stove demo thursday noon
- Yar meeting with David as soon as she can - PGE login, contractors
- Update finances with Jenny - Laura
- Yar - trying to get estimates to put PV panels on the disco room roof. They often offer financing and will upgrade the panel. Laura will ask an installer she knows.
- Mylan will ask Port Kitchen about where they get their Ktiche porter/cost.
Financing Options
- Crowdfunding Campaign
- Adding in the cost into the loan refinancing plan
- Not many grants for commercial kitchens. Can we get grants for some element of the work needed, like the people we'd hire to rebuild the floor?
- See if the companies that install or do the work of construction have their own financing models
