Update from Merchants of Reality

  • Bills getting high (~$20K/month), struggling to stay in the building (historical), applying for grants
  • Also want to buy the building ($6m, several other businesses in the building)
  • Lease to be renewed in February, landlord going to increase rent significantly (about $5K more)

Jose can't make Mondays

  • Should we change the meeting time?
  • Jenny will ask him what other night is better (Wednesday?), or if he just needs to take a break, what it means
  • IS the balance sheet ready to send to tax preparer?


We should do End of Year fundraising letter

  • Can just do email, even though usually mail requests do better
  • What has happened this year and what are the palns for the coming year
  • Can we get a matching grant from someone?

Finance Updates

  • Total October expenses: $16,766.15
  • Currently in the bank: $6,918.36
  • Currently definitely incoming: $3,700
  • Total projected incoming: $7,543.00
  • Definite incoming + currently in bank = $10,618
  • Total projected by 10/1: $14,461.36
  • Total projected gap: $2,135.64

Grants & Loans

  • Real Vegan Cheese agreed to loan us $2500
  • Other grant proposals in queue await financial review, says Mary Ann

  • Meeting with Jesse tonight to discuss the donor's loan
    • See agenda above
  • Potential "vehicle" via EBCF?

Meetings w/ Stephaney

... sucks

  • Fundraising info she sent very basic
  • When do we actually want to meet w Stephaney - every other week. LAura will send her an email about when we will meet and what else we want her to do based upon her scope.
  • Back up lawyer referral doesn't seem appropriate - LAura will call to discuss w her directly.
  • Capital needs assessments list

  • Contact Crystal from Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights - Laura
  • Event rental brochure is in limbo, but Marcus may create one this week without info from Libby
