Omni-wide education and conversation

  • The CDC would like to encourage ongoing education and discussion about racism and other systems of oppression at the Omni. How can we encourage others to join these conversations?
    • Continuing one-on-one conversations when necessary.
    • Emphasizing the fact that the need for "safer space" policies comes from our desire to challenge dominant cultures such as racism, sexism, etc.
    • Adding our definition of racism to the wiki for everyone to see, as well as a resource list for those interested in learning more.
    • Introducing intersectionality as a less intimidating way to enter the conversation, as it recognizes that everyone holds privilege and is oppressed in different ways.
    • Attending member collectives' meetings to discuss upcoming events and/or the safer space policy.
  • The CDC hopes to host potluck events to discuss how we can collectively challenge sexism and racism in the wider Omni in the future.
