Agenda

  • Conflict mediation between Pigeon and Senti
  • Something about trust, resilience and sensitivity
  • Statement of Solidarity / blog post against harassment in community spaces
  • Burnout
  • Conflict mediation w/ Kwic and Kwe

Conflict Resolution

  • Good to have people outside of the Omni to help with mediation
  • Separate working group or collective for conflict mediation?
  • Lots of people would like to get training
  • Maybe a mutual aid mediation agreement / trade with another community space
  • Sarah: I think CDC should have money to spend
    • on "emotional infrastructure"
  • Amgo: I signed up for mediation training in April - student rate of $400 - I think they do group rates

Names

  • Challenging Power
  • Dismantling Oppression
  • Challenging oppression
  • Creating Compassion
  • Cultivating Care

Burnout

  • Role of CDC in examining the dominant culture of burnout and exhaustion
  • Amgo: Cultivating the kind of culture where someone else puts an arm up to hold the house up when someone else puts their arm down
  • Ryan: Or really, just so many people that you can simply let go.
  • Unsettling sense of urgency and pace

Conflict w/ Pigeon and Senti

  • Response to violence often looks weird
  • What is the role of Omni mediating conflicts happening outside of the space? Might we explore a mutual aid mediator exchange with another community space?
  • Request a statement of safety from both parties
  • Pigeon brought another issue up with sudo back in December
  • What constitutes abuse? Or abuse of the easy-to-ban aspect of our policies?
  • What are their needs? Need to assert power... be heard..
  • With the Zach situation, we didn't have a process in place to bring him back into the community
  • We should make a statement that we do not ban people for not acting
  • How to respond to people acting out of pain?
