Meeting Minutes 3/30/2015

Agenda

Top Priority / Blocking Job

Types of Improvement Projects

  • Two kinds of improvement projects:
    • Type A: Ones that require dedicated reservation of space being worked on/in
    • Type B: Ones that are essentially non-blocking to other events, as long as other events are informed in advance

Type A: - Soundproofing ballroom wall (south) Type B: - Panic bars, emergency exit signs & emergency lighting - Access control - hole patching

Tasks

  1. Soundproof Ballroom south wall (see above)
  2. Front door
    • Pull permit
    • Look for bid lower than $5,000
    • Expect nice mosaic above door to be installed.
    • Plan for the door to potentially have kickers or pneumatic door-openers installed at a later date.
  3. Doors / Lock System
    • Panic Bars
    • Electric Strikes
    • Whatever devices needed for automatic locking system
    • Non-blocking, the auto-door systems can be installed any time as long as the panic bars and electric strikes are compatible and installed.
    • Needs:
      • Need from David Keenan a final list of doors to be upgraded or replaced, including which direction they should open, proper widths/measurements, proper material specification, whether it should have a panic bar, and whether it should have an electric strike installed (which is likely if it needs a panic bar).
      • Need to get from Marc Juul a set of recommended and compatible panic bars and electric strikes.
    • We will do all other doors than front as in-house work.
  4. Self-closing doors.
    • All main doors need these.
    • Self-install

        • Concrete grinder, stoves removed, either quarry tile or use resin on it.
        • Probably going to use natural stone (quarry tile)
      • Need to move the wall to ensure the floor drain is inside the kitchen.
        • Need plans drawn up and signed by architect
      • Dumbwaiter to ballroom

    • Evacuation plans to be posted in specific places throughout building
      • May also need brail to be ADA compliant
    • Bathrooms still need more signage
    • La Commune probably needs "wash your hand" and "worker rights" signs
  16. Need to turn off all power to building to audit electrical, this Friday April 3
  17. Get John to buy glass for ballroom roof
