- Soundproofing Ballroom south wall

- blower rental, insulation, drywall (for patches?) mud & tape & primer & paint

Types of Improvement Projects
- Two kinds of improvement projects:
- Type A: Ones that require dedicated reservation of space being worked on/in
- Type B: Ones that are essentially non-blocking to other events, as long as other events are informed in advance
Type A: - Soundproofing ballroom wall (south) Type B: - Panic bars, emergency exit signs & emergency lighting - Access control - hole patching
Tasks
- Soundproof Ballroom south wall (see above)
- Front door
- Pull permit
- Look for bid lower than $5,000
- Expect nice mosaic above door to be installed.
- Plan for the door to potentially have kickers or pneumatic door-openers installed at a later date.
- Doors / Lock System
- Panic Bars
- Electric Strikes
- Whatever devices needed for automatic locking system
- Non-blocking, the auto-door systems can be installed any time as long as the panic bars and electric strikes are compatible and installed.
- Needs:
- Need from David Keenan a final list of doors to be upgraded or replaced, including which direction they should open, proper widths/measurements, proper material specification, whether it should have a panic bar, and whether it should have an electric strike installed (which is likely if it needs a panic bar).
- Need to get from Marc Juul a set of recommended and compatible panic bars and electric strikes.
- We will do all other doors than front as in-house work.
- Self-closing doors.
- All main doors need these.
- Self-install
- La Commune walls need to be fully covered.
- Cover all lights (so bulbs cannot be broken accidentally)
- Make sure all light switches, outlets have covers
- Patch all small holes in walls / ceilings / floors
- Basement kitchen
- Fire suppression system for basement
- Makeup air system replaced with real fan
- Other upgrades, not completely necessary for fire code:
- Floor needs to be resurfaced
- Concrete grinder, stoves removed, either quarry tile or use resin on it.
- Probably going to use natural stone (quarry tile)
- Need to move the wall to ensure the floor drain is inside the kitchen.
- Need plans drawn up and signed by architect
- Dumbwaiter to ballroom
- Mop sink
- Floor needs to be resurfaced

- integrated fire alarm with wireless smoke & CO detectors
- Finish electrical in Ballroom
- Finish exit signs w/ integrated emergency lighting
- Emergency lighting in bathrooms
- Need to research with DK
- Lots of official signage
- Official "This is Not an Exit" signs
- Official "This Door to Remain Unlocked" signs
- Official ADA brail signs for each floor
- Evacuation plans to be posted in specific places throughout building
- May also need brail to be ADA compliant
- Bathrooms still need more signage
- La Commune probably needs "wash your hand" and "worker rights" signs
- Need to turn off all power to building to audit electrical, this Friday April 3
- Get John to buy glass for ballroom roof
- Put fire ceiling tiles up in basement
- Remove carpet in basement rooms
- Ditch all shitty couches -- out of the building!
- Check for basement staircase lighting, exit signs, etc
- Lighting for stairs down from disco room
- Everything looks like it's in its place -- no junk.
- Organize everything.
- Under-stage storage.
- Get HVAC intake to reverse to become exhaust
- Ballroom mezanine window needs a safety bar.
- La Commune, Tony is supposed to finish selectively removing the ceiling t-bars and tiles.
- La Commune plumbing contingent on mop sink
- Mop sink needs to be installed in the ADA bathroom either where the Urinals currently are or where the current sink is.
- Need to find a good plumber for this
- Can also possibly fit Gabriella's utility sink
- Finish ADA bathroom
- Only do this after there are no more holes in wall in La Commune
- Seal concrete
- Re-set toilet
- Remove ceiling tiles and wiring in mezzanine
