Meeting Minutes 4/13/15

Attending: Laura, Sean, Matt, Yar, Roan, Patrik (at the end), Finance wg stopped in

1. Reports/updates on this past week's activity and what needs to be done next

  • New professionals contacted: Scott R, plumber; Scott, electrician, Joe's son
  • Ballroom soundproofing - Sean L Sound testing was done. Question abour D's budget request for $1000 for sound engineer. LAura will folow up.
  • LC drywall - Joe
    • Dusty: I worked on the drywall all day with Joe, with help from Maximillion, Sean, Elliot, and several peope watching. The next step is to place drywall on the huge patch which is now framed-up, and I'm unsure as to when Joe will be able to do this.
    • One more stud needs to be added to the end, then drywall can go up. Concern about drywall beig held up by LC not deciding about cafe kitchen elctrical needs

Door day - Dusty

  • Dusty: Workind with David to secure proper materials in order to launch our door work. We are following a method of gathering materials for just one door and, upon successfully altering this one door, proceeding to the other doors in the space. Our first door is that which leads to the basement from the cafe. We figure that it's heavy and a good place to start. I submitted a budget to finance, and will be going to HD with David this Wednesday 4/15 to buy some materials. Our first focus is the door closers, those thingy-bobs which make doors close once they've been open, the arm-things at the top of doors. These are important for fire due to their ability to prevent drafts. I have distributed fliers for the door day, still set for this Saturday 4/18. However I am unsure as to how much work I'll be able to have for people, becuase I feel that I may be just working with one door and that I won't have much work to do in the whole building. I suppose that if people show up they can do all sorts of stuff in the building and I doubt it will ruin anyone's day. I'll try to keep people up to date as we go along.
  • Door day can be postponed until all door materials are purchased and all can be done.

Light day - Roan

  • Roan inventoried the building. Est 200 individual items, mostly simple. Will do cost estimate next- by this week. Will need workers that he is confident they know what they are doing for osome of the work. We should all be asking people if they have experience doing electrical work. Roan needs moreinfo to clarify exactly what he needs to do in regards to electrical standards.
  • Amgo and David looked for bulb covers. If time is of the essence then we can just buy them already made, or there are wasy to hack less expensive fixture covers. Matt is curious about that is the actual requirement for light covers.

Circuit tracing - Matt

  • Meeting w Gerald this Friday to trace. LC kitchen are cicuits traced. Also had to trace becasue of use of new computers on the one trippy circuit

Permits/inspections - Sean F

  • Will link up wth David first. ANyone who needs a permit or wants to talk about permitting should get in touch with Sean and Joe

Front door - Liz

Kitchen - Joe

ADA Bathroom - Not Yar

  • Keep asking for other people to take responsiblity for this but she will keep working on it in the mean time. Yar will look up how to do the toilet - needs to be dismounted, concrete treated, and remounted. Sean will help with toilet.

Basement mold/leak

Other

Finance

  • be sure to include info on the nature of the project and why it is being done in budget requests. Note reason for any larger that ususal items.
  • Also considering if a buffer should be included to make sure ther is enough to cover purchases when someone does to buy. Matt suggests a % buffer. We agreed n 10% before a new request needs to be submitted. Finance asks that requests get reviewed by building wg first before sending. MAtt says BWG is establishing a different way of working so each project will have more discussion among the group so this doesn't have to be formal.

MAtt - we can incorpoate bringin reciepts and doing data entry into the meeting. Finance enthusiastic about that idea.

  • Electrician that David paid hasn't fisished exit lighting and emergency lighting jog. Matt want to to clarify the scope of the project.
  • Matt will set up walkthrough with Claus the Fire Inspector

2. Update work schedule/calendar

3. Next steps/to-dos

  • Laura will tals to DK re office hours and sound engineer budget, roof key to get fan serial number.

4. Next meeting, when and where?

  • peopel want to keep same meeting day and time. Matt proposes David have an "office hour" when he wil be availble for interacting with wg members.
