Meeting Minutes 4/20/15 HAPPY 4/20!! (notetaker, keep a task list)

Attendees

  • Amgo, Will, Matt, Egon, Laura, Shawn, Roan, Jenny, Maxamillion, Patrik

Announcements

  • Need volunteers to table at the Anarchist Book Fair this Saturday - contact Laura [scylla at riseup dot net]
  • Oaklandish 'Nonprofit of the Month' - set up a table, 3rd Saturday in May, 10% of proceeds

Reports on To-dos

  • MAtt didn't get a chance to contact Claus the fire inspector for a walkthrough. He'll give it another pass unless anyone else wants to contact him.
  • "Office Hours" - DK will offer a time when he can be always available for folks to delve into his brain - he will get back to us on his best time - Laura will follow up
  • +++ Creating a task list using OwnCloud: https://omnicommons.org/cloud - email jenny for an account.

Finance

  • Creating a process for approving budget requests
    • Schedule this into the agenda of the weekly building meetings
    • Plan your projects ahead of time,
    • Amgo, Jenny and Matt can all transfer money into the building account for building-related projects

Doors

Disco panic!

  • Dusty installed a door closure to the front door, in order to see if we are able to meet the clearance requirements of 78" height. Dusty is typing in third person which is super weird....I believe we have clearance and are able to move forward with the front door project, although it may take a little adjusting. This would be great, however, due to the fact that we wouldn't have to replace major pieces of the Jamb and frame stuff which is all around that door. I have also been in extensive conversation with Marc and David and Matt about panic bars and such. I feel that the next move for this piece of the project is to get the door closers for all of the doors first and move to the panic bars. Perhaps that preference is just due to my comfort with the closers and fear of the panic bars as they feel quite complicated to me and of course I've never messed with doors (besides opening and sometimes closing doors every once in a while). I am able to work on the doors about once a week, and will do as much as I can prior to leaving for the month of July...and I really hope it's all done by then :). I am unable to attend most building meetings due to meetings at my housing cooperative (yay meetings!) but I do stay connected, largely through discussion with David.
  • TODO: Ask Liz if she can work on panic bars. See Marc's research on this: https://omnicommons.org/lists/private/building/2015-April/000275.html
  • TODO: Ask Marc to fill out a budget request for panic bars, work w/ Dusty and possibly Liz
  • TODO: Find a contractor for door installation
  • TODO: Research doorjams (Egon)

Front Door

  • Want to completely replace it. Contact Dusty and/or Marc Juul
  • Automatic closing mechanism & panic bar

Downstairs Disco Room Door (Far East on 48th)

Electrical and Lights

  • Matt: Talked to David and reached an understanding about scoping all the electrical work to budget ahead of time
    • TOnight they will go through and estimate what still needs work
  • Matt and frenz scoped the ballroom, labeled all the electrical panels with our inventory system. The panels are labelled according to degree of connection to the main breaker, ending with a number indicating which breaker to flip (eg; baa3)
  • Roan talked to DK last week re: lights, received the fire and building inspection reports, needs more info about fire and building code requirements
    • TODO: put inspection reports in OwnCloud with appropriate access permissions
    • TODO: give Roan an account on OwnCloud to "dl" from DK > OwnCloud > Roan.
    • ROan trying to get copy of Temescal area electrical code
      • Claus might be able to help Roan on Monday - Matt will contact
    • TODO: Roan will contact Scott the electrician and Brendan K and Joe's son
  • Impromptu Electrical Discussion
    • https://omnicommons.org/wiki/
    • Electrical folks: Roan, Joe Liesner, Patrik D'Heasseler, Alice, Gerald, Matt
    • When anyone who does electrical work here, the way that work is progressing. We scope out work in very small chunks and track our projects over time.
    • Mike, we give him a scope of a task to complete, and set him at it in his spare times (weekends only, and not every weekend).
    • Only scope for Mike's time is weekend-by-weekend. David asks if we can get the materials together in time, if not, we tell him not to come. As he works, scope changes and materials cost change as the project progresses. If more stuff gets done within the week by volunteers, then we don't need Mike.
    • For example, in the cafe, people looked at the electrical -- David asked Joe (he says if it will reach it will be fine). But actually it can't, because the ground wire on the outside is broken, there's no ground, 14 guage is not enough (needs to be 12). Won't pass for a cafe. All this wire needs to be decommissioned. Need a 125A panel to replace another one downstairs.
    • When it comes to electrical, we really need to discuss with people like Scott, at various levels. This group of factors points to what Mike should work on regularly
