Meeting w/ DK 5/5/2015

  • South wall - need architect and Brian the sound guy's input
    • Pull permits from both front door and south wall - Valuation Threshold entails 20% on ADA improvements
    • Need to replace the veneer with drywall, but that's a bit outside the scope of just building another wall
    • Drawings should be ready any day
    • Permit fee is typically 10% of the total cost
    • Going to expedite an over-the-counter permit
    • If they shelf it, DK will go back every morning and email folks to pressure them to expedite
  • Front door
    • Jim suggests we lower the slope by demo'ing the sidewalk and repouring it at an angle < 2%
    • Would have to remove the Ligure Club tile and reset it

    • If we grind down we don't need to have a kicker and it's more accessible
    • Can get basic door hardware from Home Depot - 2 foot door we'd have to special order, 3 ft door @ home depot
    • Can get away with a cheaper panic bar
    • Probably will need a cement finisher to get the right slant in
    • Need: 1 good door closer (return the one from home depot), panic bar, electric strike,
      • Shattuck side doors need panic bars as well
  • Kitchen
    • For health, resurface the floor
    • Water heater spec
    • Fire will be easier, need to replace the vent for makeup air
  • Finance
    • We've spent $7-8K on building so far
    • The $5K estimate for the hood is a big chunk right now
  • Fire
    • Tell John we can move ahead on the extinguishers
  • Electrical
    • TIL is going to pay Omni back for the hours Mike spent in their room
    • Also need adequate lighting in the hallways - 3-way switches
    • Need another light in the southeast corner of the ballroom
    • Lights with cages, $30 each, we got a bunch of those
    • Sudo needs one more exit sign on the platform
    • Jake says he can probably do Saturday for the ballasts
      • Should we replace the ones that are going as well?
    • Southeast staircase needs 3-way switch - Jenny will ask Hol and Whitney, also broken light in hallway should be replaced w/ new fixture
    • Staircase from La Commune to basement needs these light fixtures as well - ask if Matt or Brendan can do that
      • Put in movement-activated switches - the new fixtures can be easily hooked up to a motion sensor
      • $37 motion sensor at Emperor
    • Plastic tube covers for the flourescents that seem low, remove flourescents and put them in these protective tubes, need black caps on the ends
    • Cover all small holes in the building - one in the A/V room - just need drywall squares, mud and tape - back it first w/ Joe
    • Ceiling tiles on top of the drywall in the basement near where black hole was slated to be
      • Where to find those? - check urban ore first
    • 3-Phase taken on by Scott the electrician and Whitney
      • 4YE 3-Phase (not delta)
    • Currently using residential electrical, they can charge us for commercial at any point
      • Won't get charged for any of the pipe or trenching
      • Check in w/ Whitney to take on 3-phase w/ Scott

Electrical Team:

  • Are you capable of installing a 3-way switch?
  • Can you bend conduit and are you comfortable with it?
  • How many people do you need to help, if any?
  • How familiar are you with codes?

Permits

  • Meeting sometime this week
  • Getting info on a general permit today - hopefully we get Dexter
  • South wall, front door, plumbing in la commune, fire suppression
    • Where to pull the suppression permit? Fire?

ADA Bathroom

  • Voluntary upgrade relieves us of some reqs like a fixture count for the whole building
  • Shawn and Yar could go down to the city next week

Action Items:

  • Arrange electrical work party for Saturday
  • Arrange mtg w/ Yar, Shawn, and the city re: ADA bathroom & permit - application needs to be reactivated
    • How to address removal of toilets - providing one w/ someone w/ accessibility issues, it's worth it
    • Dexter better than Sharif
  • Get Jim involved
    • South wall, general building permit
  • Meeting w/ John on Monday @ 5pm to discuss drywall in La Commune and insulating the opening to the Disco Room
