Building WG July 6, 2015

Attendees

  • Libbie, Laura, Yar, Joe, Jenny, Matt, Jesse

Check-in on Last Week's Action Items

  • Jenny: Got Amgo's bank card, Matt should be canceling his. Coordinating with John to certify and mount remaining fire extinguishers this Thursday. Meeting with Sarah on Wednesday to get intro'd to our Quickbooks setup.
  • Neighbor contacts: Yar researching Vonage; Matt suggests an omni phone
  • Patching holes in trash room - rescheduling for tomorrow (trash day)
  • Klaus said no emergency lights are needed in the bathrooms; cannot have anything that locks the ballroom doors to Shattuck from the inside
  • Remaining hardware needed: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TpJYnSFZMFpEAbTvPg5hS7ZGVJuTzEklETCWsUL_ug0/edit#gid=0

Project Check-ins

South Wall

  • Pink stuff is not adhering so well, gonna put some staples in it
  • Waiting for 2nd inspection, and some rough electrical
  • Lighting for cafe tables requires running receptacles to each post

Electrical

Front Door

  • Jack Rusk and his partner
  • Laura will contact

Doors

  • Jesse: Might need to put closers on the outside of the Shattuck doors We texted Klaus during the meeting and he said exterior doors do not need closers (do need panic bars)
    • Laura: Well the inner doors have closers, so maybe we don't need closers on the outer doors?
    • Matt: Also spring hinges as an option
      • Jesse: Yeah, let's do that unless Klaus says we don't need anything
    • Jesse: Another option is to remove the handles from the outside of the outer Shattuck doors
  • Jesse: The wonkiness of the doors is all due to old hinges. All the doors will close normally, so all the closers will actually work.
  • Ballroom->La Commune doors will be the most tricky. Do we want to keep a rotary hinge? Righthand door will need to remain in a locked position.
    • 1) Is it sufficient for fire safety to label the blue classroom door that would be hit as 'Not a Fire Exit'?
    • 2) Would this lower our capacity?
      • Yar: Need to check the CASPA report
      • Matt: Also, that kids room might not last in the long run when we install a proper wheelchair lift
  • Jesse: Takes 2 people with a decent amount of brawn to remove and put doors back up

ADA Bathroom

  • yar to paint floor this week

Ethernet and Wiring

Small Tasks

  • Jenny patched a rat hole in sudo room. It was big.
  • Shawn and Anka have been working on the crow's nest above the stage

Discussion

  • White tool cabinet moved to basement (currently in ticket booth room) for potential secured use by Homes Not Jails?
  • Basement ceiling tiles - 120, 1'x1', fire-insulated, Jenny to procure this week at Lowe's? The cheap tiles are availabe at Marcus Hardware in Jack London
