    • Julio - tired
    • Daniel - feels good

  • Follow up of last week's discussion
  • Going over this week's events(I suggest only looking at events proposed to happen before the second friday cut off plus anything that is going to happen in the next week to make sure that bases are covered.)
  • train event volunteers in crowd management for fire safety/evacuation
  • Event Rental Evalution Sheet - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AtCpKhdd6r_c8ijCK3H2VZHovWrYTAqPOMRIH6aWicM/edit#gid=0

Dragon

  • Dragon came with insurance form to do massage in wellness room
    • Already has "named insured" including Omni Oakland Commons and John Slye Givens
    • Does this insurance include a "waiver of subrogation"?
      • Since this potential change to the insurance policy is intended to occur "before a loss", Dragon's insurer should be able to easily provide a "waiver of subrogation" that waives the insurer's typical right of engaging in the process of "subrogation" to represent the insured (Dragon) in order to seek restitution against specific third parties listed in the waiver--in this case Omni Oakland Commons (the lease-holding organization) and John Slye Givens. In the event of a claim made by the insured (Dragon) to the insurer (firm/agent/broker/etc), the insurer may use its right to represent the insured in order to claim damages from responsible persons (aka "tortfeasor(s)"), but the "waiver of subrogation" prevents Omni Oakland Commons and John Slye Givens to be pursued by the insurer in this fashion. Note this should not change insurance policy coverage nor prevent the insured from making any claims that would normally be made, especially that are explicitly covered by the policy.
  • Dragon proposes Conscious DJ Music Series
    • Once per month, weeknight, happy hour
    • No insurance required (no alcohol, less than 250 people, ends before 10pm)
    • Try Sept 2 (Wed) 5-10pm
  • discussion of how soon we can give Dragon approval for this event because we want it to happen. Our policy talks about waiting until a certain day to approve all events, but that doesn't give him a lot of lead time or confidence. He might do it elsewhere if we can't say yes. We eventually decide that since Dragon knows what's going on at Omni we can list him as a point person, and that makes more sense. Won't be a burden on other volunteers.
    • Matt - With a month lead time, it's highly possible to address this event quickly, isn't it? Indeed, there's a deadline, but no minimum waiting period, right?
    • Biggest obvious concern to me is that this is concurrent with our sudo room weekly meeting, which shares the wall with the ballroom. In other words, making it very noisy for us to meet in sudo room proper. That being said, I'm personally in favor of having these kinds of events and am willing to accommodate by just bearing the sound or moving our meeting to another place / time. Will put on agenda for sudo room meeting.
    • Will the event be publicly advertised? (e.g. flyers or facebook)
    • What's the ticket price?
