  • Mary Ann: CSC showing a film about the Zapatista Women's Gathering, to coincide w/ the indigenous woman running for Mexican President. CSC needs to have space to store their artwork, perhaps at the Omni. 140 pieces of work. Omni display perhaps. Jose mentioned this idea to Julio, Julio discouraged it because we can't guarantee its security/care. 4'W x 4-5'L x 2'H
    • Laura: How long would it need to be here? CSC are looking for it to be exhibited. at the least it will be here at least to Nov 18th.
      • M.A.: folx looked for a place to exhibit it, but there is little option on this short notice
        • L: what's the longest it could be here? I don't personally have an issue with it being stored there for a couple months?
  • Almaz: Fundraising event on November 11th to raise money for the youth Trip to Africa – https://omnicommons.org/calendar/events/yout-trip-to-africa-fundraising-event/

Bans

  • via sudo room: ""The sudoroom community stands by our existing safe space ban of Ryan Martin for reasons of prolonged intimidation and harassment. We will seek more information, but prioritize supporting our long-time community members. The ban will continue unless it's overturned by a member vote at a future sudoroom meeting."
    • Joe: Heads up here: this Ryan Martin has last week written FNB via our listserve to introduce himself as a new volunteer. I have not met him or heard anything but this SudoInfo. Let's keep our attention on him if he surfaces in person.
  • Marcus: with Running Wolf there is a mediation meeting set up with SEEDS 11/15 at 12:45pm - 3:25pm.
    • Almaz: Marcus is representing Omni & Running Wolf & friend Thomas, Almaz and Steve there as the Conflict Resolution Stewards, and then two SEEDS mediators at the Oakland Law Library
      • There is a $75 fee, that SEEDS is setting very low for US.
  • Add to list of people asked to leave

Working Group Report-Backs

Building & permits

Meetings: 1st & 3rd Mondays @ 6pm

  • Next meeting is next week. Been a lapse in momentum since last epic work party. Every other building meeting or so is a building work party (depending on if we are more in need of organizing or doing)
  • There are now several dozen rat and rodent traps in secure storage (including half a dozen electric traps). Ping rodents@lists.omnicommons.org if you can help steward traps or spot problem areas.
  • This group needs help; https://omnicommons.org/lists/listinfo/building
  • Gerald: Robb & I have been working on some light/electricity. it could save a ton of money. I don't know the procedure. I was going to order 30 of the switches. Anka found it priced relatively cheaply. In the long run this replacement will save us tons of money.
    • Laura: the procedures = make a budget for the purhcase etc, then send it to Finance WG and they say yes or no.
      • Gerald: I was looking at Home Depot Prices
      • Laura: You can use that as the price-base, but we'll do online research to figure out what the best prices are
    • Gerald: we had another guy who was doing electrical work here. we have different types of motion switches installed. sometimes we need those, but sometimes we need to move some swithes. this space wasn't designed as very user friendly. but that's research on my end.
  • Gerald: Rats. we got all these rat traps; we should be checking where the holes are to see where they're coming froom. "she"s considering hiring somebody to fix the sewer. I think we should confirm there is something wrong first before we.
    • Laura: the person that did the sewer lateral didn't close the permit.
      • Several: it would be good for Omni to go and look ourselves
        • Gereald: last point, we have a map that I'd like more people to look over
  • Gerald: regarding the video for the kithcen fundraising - its all ready to go
    • Ken: we've been talking about launching the fundraising campaign after Thingstaken
  • K: re: rats we just found another hole in the wall in CCL. We really need to go thru the builidng and check for any holes. Maybe some painting
    • jenny: monday - building work party in place of mtg? 6pm-whenever
      • Gerald: when?
    • robb: monday wp sounds good. got an AC dimmer to install & several bulbs to replace
      • Several: sounds good.
  • Laura: I'll send the email for the work party right now
