    • introduce yourself: name, pronoun, affiliation, if you're a delegate

    • report-backs from any of your working groups
    • updates from your collective
    • any brief announcements
    • updates on any conflict mediation
    • if you've asked anybody to leave the building due to safe space issues
  • please be BRIEF! Less than 4 minutes per person! Anything that might take longer must be put on the agenda as a discussion item
  • imma stuck in cyberpunk traffic
    • bio/resume details mostly redacted
    • interested in being treasurer
  • marc/juul he/him
    • sudoroom tuesday hack nights are nice, more people showing up. fixed a water kettle
    • planning javascript thursdays starting in march
    • new member
  • sarah
    • we have a new 16' free-standing ladder!
    • alaska refrigeration gave quote for walkin
  • patrik he/him - wants to talk about roof, and covid risk of events
  • silver - new job, will volunteer less
    • host CDP trainings?
  • yar
    • update on plp: they thought our bathrooms were too dirty. their volunteers don't want to work someplace with dirty bathrooms.
    • planning summer season of events: may, june, july, august - safer for Covid. Can't wait too long, need to establish a few months of steady operations.
    • Mulberry denied our (second) loan extension!

treasurer

  • Nominating Imma for treasurer - election in 2 weeks?
  • has experience in consolidating multiple difference programs, spreadsheet & analyst skills, formatting things in ways that are transparent & accessible. dedication to community, access, open source methods. drops in on sudoroom hardware hack nights. hopes to get more involved and figure out finances, support as much as i can.
  • Participated in finance & fundraising meeting earlier today
  • sarah: how would you feel about having your name on a beer license?
    • discussion of liability and responsibilities
    • we have officer insurance that protects treasurer from liability unless you do very shitty things
    • Imma comfortable being listed - public employee already
  • Yar will send email to consensus list announcing election in 2 weeks

Roof updates

  • Expecting refund for skylights
  • Marc: there are ways to test for leaks that don't require putting water on it. Ultrasonic leak detector
  • Jake: Leelu says Mike used a sprinkler on roof to test for leaks. May be hearsay
  • Patrik: CCL doing lab cleanup this Sunday - will try water test
  • Will we still have 7yr warranty for the rest of the roof work?
    • Yar: Mike has genuine pride about rook not leaking. If it does, he will likely come fix it.
  • Rick offered to re-seal the 2014 sudo/ccl skylights, but we should scrape off the paint. be very careful while doing that! don't fall through!
  • rick also recommends taking out the passive vents

fye status

  • they are apparently moving out - need to find a new group for that room. Plans to move out by 3/1. May try to reconstitute in July
  • we don't intend to press them on back rent.
  • Do we need to do anything official?
    • Terminate fiscal sponsorship
      • yar thinks we should wait until july for that
    • Jake: just say "the fiscal sponsorship and omni membership is on hold / suspended"
    • sarah: we can repurpose the language we used for noma
    • Amend bylaws to remove delegate: "This Section may be amended as provided in these bylaws at such time as the Board of Directors resolves to add additional directors and designators or at such time as the Board of Directors resolves to remove directors and designators. All of the designators listed in this Article 3, Section 4 shall be known collectively as the “Designators”. https://omnicommons.org/wiki/Bylaws#SECTION_4._TERMS_OF_OFFICE_AND_DESIGNATION_OF_DIRECTORS +1
    • LibLens has already indicated they want to remain an (inactive) member collective - could do same with FYE
  • juul: what do we do about the basement area outside of FYE? They were stewarding it. Should other collectives steward it as a print / scan / sewing / etc area together?
    • omni's going to try to fill the room in the meantime
  • RESOLVED: FYE's fiscal sponsorship is suspended, member collective status remains until July but inactive, and stewardship of the media lab / basement common areas is returned to omni so that other groups can take care of it
    • CONSENSUS: YES (ccl, mesh, room), ABSTAIN (anv). PASSED!

spending proposals

  • deferred items from ventilation proposal from last meeting
    • last time we approved 1 & 4, and deferred 2 & 3
    • 2 from last time: modify bars on entrance hall windows so they can fully open, $300 in labor (maybe $500 - one day of work) - 48th street windows
      • asking up to $500 for this
    • 3 from last time: improve sound baffles in ballroom east wall, so they're easier to open & close
      • joe will do ballroom level
      • for mezzanine level: up to $800?
  • Sarah posted new proposal for additional work at https://omnicommons.org/pipermail/consensus/2022-February/003260.html
    • 2-3 days at $500/day, plus $570 in materials (not including mezzanine window covers - already listed above)
  • Total cost for both proposals is 500+800+1500+570 = $3370

Yar: How about $10K between now and May 1st

  • $15K would be better - including $3370 budget from today
  • Jake: remember to spend it wisely & carefully!
  • CONSENSUS on $15k for all building repair work between now and may 1: YES (anv, sudoroom, mesh, ccl). PASSED!

We should be able to streamline this process better. Discuss details in Building WG? Have a monthly building repairs budget? +1

  • DK can do before 4pm, or after 9pm

door access control update

  • sudo/ccl door has RFID access but:
    • We have not yet granted access to the sudo/CCL members nor locked the door but that will likely happen soon
    • It is not yet integrated into sudo humans v1 (and sudo humans v2 is in development)
    • When it is integrated members will be able to register their own RFID tag
    • A new system for manually granting access is up and running. ask juul to get access
    • The hardware should be improved. Control software currently running on older donated computer with a HDD. Estimated about $330 for low power computer, fanless managed PoE router and PoE capable ESP322

new groups

  • sarah's proposal to bring new groups into omni https://omnicommons.org/pipermail/consensus/2022-February/003243.html
  • Get the word out that we have space available - 3 basement rooms, plus shared basement area
  • Move office to basement middle room. - ugh no - no one will ever use it (bureaucracy maintenance for omni is unglamorous to begin with). share w/ gws/csc (are they boycotting/gone?) at the least
    • marc: Omni office in the tiny basement rooms sounds bad. I would not want to work there and I don't think we should be discouraging people working on Omni paperwork by putting them in a bad location
  • also close off the den area?
  • Need to clear out some more areas in basement, e.g. NOMA gear
  • status of dismantling the computer area - do folks have laptops yet? Marc was waiting on specs but we've settled that. he'll work on it.
    • individuals can also submit to omnicommons.org/laptops ...

beer license

  • sarah: apply for one? allows minors, need snacks tho. also tamarack can cater if you want wine, etc.
  • yar: no restrictions for events without beer? so no regression for existing activity
  • Silver would like to be involved
  • david: will cost maybe $600, less than $1000
  • marc: let's require that any events with alcohol make an effort to have viable alternatives to alcohol +1
  • CONSENSUS: YES (ccl, anv, sudoroom, sudomesh). PASSED!

music venue license thing?

This is not time critical, but we should talk about it at some point

Covid update, masks and restarting events

  • Case numbers and hospitalizations are down sharply from the peak Omicron surge, but still near where we were during the delta surge. Community transmission is still high.
  • CA has let its indoor mask mandate (for vaccinated!) expire, and almost all Bay Area counties have followed suit. However CDC is still recommending mask use indoors.
    • yar agrees with keeping mask mandate for everyone
  • patrik: 2 or 3 weeks from now, might be reasonable to start doing smaller events. ballroom might not be ready, but we've got disco room, entrance hall
  • david, patrik & elon (wow, can he be our guarantor? :P) working on calculating safe capacities. after upcoming window work & shutter motors probably installed next week, air will be moving as fast as can be. in a week or two. need to climb up our new ladder to measure CFM
  • maybe we can work on disco room too? how connected are disco room & ballroom air?
    • extremely interconnected, heh - no it's thru the vents... afai remember.. or maybe that's just ccl/sudo.. ballroom air also comes up direct from eastside bathroom to central upstairs area near disco, but if disco door is closed you still get sudo/ccl air thru other points of entry
      • Not if the door is closed! We should be able to calculate a number this week
    • if a butterfly farts in the disco room, a hurricane of chaos is unleashed in the ballroom

^lol

cdp

  • community democracy project will have meetings at omni
    • they're fiscally sponsored by SELC, a 501c3, so no tax issues wrt "politics"
    • still go through commons/events wg to avoid double booking rooms

kids room

  • david: i'm kid-focused but it wasn't being used for that, so i proposed it be multi-use. i proposed a changing table in wheelchair bathroom to offset that.
    • nothing was being used in 2020-2021 as intended.. not a viable case ur making
  • Yar in favor of total reset for that room - rehome stuff, do deep clean
  • Patrik: anyone wanting to clean has permission - permanently
    • didn't silver do that..?
  • patricia wanted to do a more thorough reset - they are empowered ;D

conflicts

  • what was this supposed to be about?
  • patrik: ideally the best time to reform our conflict process, is when there aren't active conflicts
  • imma: i'm interested in joining a wg with a clearly defined resolution process. Maybe invite outside person to do some interviews to clarify what is needed
  • silver: i feel frustrated with how the event wg has been. i want to support it but it's taking a toll on me, so i'm taking a break. feel like we've been hitting a rock. want to voice that.
    • yar: maybe a facilitated convo? silver will email the events list to coordinate that.
