BRIEF INTROS MAY INCLUDE: name, pronouns, groups you're in, land you're on, if you're a delegate, unmet access needs, meeting roles you'd like to help with, discussion topics or proposals to add to agenda, announcements/updates/report-backs from your groups, safe space issues or updates

  • Geraldo (he/they): BOGSS delegate
  • Andy (any): from sudo room
  • Patrik (he/him): CCL delegate, if Sarah shows up would love to hear about refi and some activity on hiring. There are other items on the hellman grant that need follow up
  • Silvia she/her, CLP Delegate
  • Chrsitian (he/him): president of CCL
  • Rafiq (they/them): member of CLP
  • Vikram (he/him): with CCL here for website discussion
  • Kai (he/him): CLP
  • Silver(they/them): on plane

Hiring Marketing & Outreach Coordinator

  • 25+ applicants for this position, we directed funds with the hellman grant towards this for social media, marketing, and onboarding volunteers.
  • approved 4k, Silver wants to propose a working group to choose out of the top 3 candidates, test project to see their skills
    • Vikram: some of the criteria was to do demo work for the website, responding to social media conversations not really a project.
    • Geraldo: seems like folks are in a nuetral stance and we will discuss with Silver in the next few weeks.

Room changes

  • Silver sent email from GWS in slack channel about wanting to move to the omni office.
  • They have not been in communication yet about sharing the office, CSC is still unsure on whether or not they will move until the end of the month
  • ANV is moving out August 31,2023.
    • Sarah (from email): We just received word from Acta Non Verba that they intend to move out of their office at Omni as of the end of this month. Would that space (ground floor) be something that TANC and/or the print collective be interested in? ANV is currently paying $675 for the space.
  • Silver: GWS interested into moving to old Omni office as well.

Application from the Oakland Print Shop becoming a member collective

  • Patrik: seems like they could use ANV's space if it seems like a good space.
  • Dani, from email: Been at the last couple delegate meetings talking mostly about TANC, but here's the official application for the Oakland Printshop to become a

member collective at the Omni! This move has already been preliminarily approved by the shop. We could move in as early as late September, though perhaps October is more realistic. Sam L should also be at the meeting tonight to discuss or answer questions. Also, the shop is aiming to become a 509a2 organization, which is under the 501c3 umbrella. This may take a couple months, and in the meantime we are ok with sponsorship.

1. What do you do that makes a difference in the world?

The Oakland Printshop provides at cost printing to members, generally oriented at leftist political printing. Currently, the shop is used to print zines for prisoners, to print for TANC, to print for union drives and the Emergency Workplace Organizing committee, and for individual printing projects.

2. Briefly recap your history as an organization.

The shop has been around for a long time, since before 2016 when I became aware of it. We now have about 15 dues paying members.

3. How do you make decisions? How many people are involved?

The shop makes decisions by consensus unless decisions are time sensitive, in which case we do vote by large majority (~75 percent). We meet as needed but about every month.(we should clarify how many people are in the leadership team)

4. Please include links to any organizing documents you may have: bylaws, mission statement, etc.

The shop is an analog, word of mouth organization. We are currently working on bylaws to get our official nonprofit status.

5. State your goals for becoming an Omni member collective. How would your presence in the Omni contribute to its purpose and Statement of Solidarity?

The shop provides at cost printing to members and political projects, so having it in the Omni would be a potential benefit to all the collectives. Specifically, our Risograph printer is relatively unique and hard to find elsewhere. The shop also currently supports prison abolition, tenant union organization, and worker union organization.

6. What dedicated space do you need? What will you do in it? (For example: office, work space, etc)

The shop requires space for printers, paper, other machines and material, etc. In short, the shop is looking for a home. The space should be open to shop members and should be lockable, since there are valuable pieces of equipment and other materials stored inside.

7. What shared space do you need? What will you do with it?

The shop does not need shared space.

8. Will you need to modify the building? (Include floor plans if that makes your proposal clearer.)

We are not aware of any modification to the building, but would be willing to contribute labor and funds to make any happen if needed.

9. How much are you able to pay?

The shop currently pays $450 in rent, and may be open to more for a space that's larger than our current one.

  • Delegates Questions:
    • How many are in the organizing team?
    • Are you already a 501c3 becoming a 509a2?
      • Seems unlikely, since they are still working on bylaws
    • What will be your bilaws?
    • Percentage of TANC members in the print shop?
      • Would we want to honor the three month waiting period that we have mentioned in the past?
        • Patrik: did we ever decide on that as our standard practice? I know this was suggested at some point, but not sure we voted on this.
    • A website? Social Medias?
